Why are the
screens not displaying properly?
|
|
|
|
First,
make sure that you are using a Java-enabled browser. If you are
using Internet Explorer, it should be version 4 or higher. Netscape
should be version 4 or higher. If your browser version is correct, make
sure that Java is enabled:
|
|
|
|
|
 |
In
Internet Explorer version 4, select View|Internet Options
from the menu. Click the Advanced tab and select the Enable Java
check boxes. |
 |
In
Internet Explorer 5, select Tools|Internet Options from the
menu. Click the Advanced tab and select the Enable Java check
boxes. |
 |
In
Netscape version 4 or higher, select Edit|Preferences from
the menu. Click the Advanced category and select the Enable Java
check boxes. |
 |
Netscape
6 users: Netscape 6 requires a Java VM component to
display Java applets. If Java applets are not displaying in your
browser, this may indicate that the Java VM component is not
installed. You can install the Java VM component as a plug-in from
the Netscape Web site at http://www.netscape.com/download.
The plug-in is free. |
 |
AOL
users: The AOL browser uses a type of image compression that
can interfere with Java applets. Follow these instructions to fix the problem: |
-
From the toolbar, click
on the My AOL button and select Preferences.
-
Click on WWW.
-
Click on the Web
Graphics tab.
-
Uncheck the "Use
compressed graphics" check box.
-
If there is an Advanced
tab, click on it. Otherwise, go to step 7.
-
Under the Advanced tab,
click Settings, press Empty Folder, and press Yes. Go to step 8.
-
Under the Temporary
Internet Files area, press the Delete Files button. Press OK.
-
Return to the
"problem" page. If
there is no change, press the reload button (the clockwise
pointing arrow).

If you continue
to experience display problems in AOL, you should try using Netscape
(version 3 or higher) or Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4 or
higher) instead. You can download these from the Netscape Web site at http://www.netscape.com/download/
or the Microsoft Web site at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.asp/.
To get these browsers to work with AOL, you must first log into AOL
and bring up the AOL browser. Then you can launch Netscape or IE
